Firefighters were able to knock down a great alarm fire Tuesday at a commercial building in Los Angeles.

Crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department plan to remain on scene through the morning conducting overhaul operations, said LAPD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Stewart added that due to the size of the fire, the LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section has been called to participate in the investigation.

Fire crews responded at 3:17 a.m. to 1820 E. 48th Place between Long Beach East Avenue and Alameda Street where they encountered flames coming from the rear of the one-story building, which was filled with textiles, Stewart said.

The size of the blaze required 82 firefighters to extinguish it and no injuries were reported.
