A nearly three-hour search for a domestic disturbance suspect, who was initially reported armed, was resolved without incident in Stanton Wednesday afternoon when he was found hiding behind plywood in a neighbor’s yard.

Deputies were called at about 9:30 a.m. regarding an argument the suspect had with a family member in a home in the 1200 block of Leafwood Street, according to Sgt. Todd Hylton of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect was reported to be armed, but when he was arrested he was unarmed, Hylton said.

Deputies set up a perimeter in the area and searched the neighborhood before police dogs and deputies in a helicopter helped track him down at about 12:15 p.m., hiding behind some plywood in a home a few doors from the dispute, Hylton said.

The suspect was wanted on a warrant, but Hylton did not know what the warrant was issued for. Deputies were not immediately releasing the suspect’s name.
