A man was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting in Long Beach, and authorities Thursday sought public help to solve the crime.
Officers were sent to the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The calling party stated they arrived home from work and located a subject down on the sidewalk near their residence and requested paramedics,” police said in a statement.
Paramedics pronounced Ray Cash, 53, of Long Beach, dead at the scene, police said.
“Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene,” police said. “While the motive remains under investigation, the shooting is being investigated as gang related.”
No arrests were reported, and no suspect description was available.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call detectives at 562-570-7244, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.Tips may also be made via the website www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
