Concerns were mounting Thursday about the welfare of a 78-year-old man who disappeared earlier this week in Menifee, prompting authorities to issue a regional Silver Alert in the hope someone might spot him.

Jorge Heredia was last seen about 6 p.m. Tuesday at his family’s Menifee home, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Heredia was driving a white 2016 Jeep Compass, California license plate 8-L-E-R-8-8-2.

There was no word on where he intended to go.

Heredia is 6 feet and about 185 pounds, bald with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants, a blue jacket and a blue beanie, police said.

The California Highway Patrol issued the Silver Alert to post information about Heredia’s disappearance on freeway message signs.

Anyone who believes they have seen the missing man or his vehicle was asked to call 911.
