A man who died after the car he was driving in crashed into the back of a big rig was identified by county authorities Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Juan Gomez Nuno, 42, whose city of residence was not given.
The crash was reported at 7:21 p.m. Sunday at 13538 Excelsior Drive, according to Lt. Sam Reed of the Whittier Police Department.
The car crashed into the back of the big rig and slid under the trailer, Reed said.
Nuno was trapped inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, the lieutenant said.
The police department is investigating the cause of the crash.
