A 27-year-old man is behind bars Friday after causing a two-vehicle collision that flipped over a Riverside Sheriff’s prisoner transport van and fleeing the scene.

Miguel Gamboa Fragoza of San Bernardino, was arrested on Friday at 12:30 a.m. after causing the collision at the intersection of 14th and Lime streets, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Fragoza struck the van, causing it to tip over and injure a Riverside Sheriff’s Community Service Officer and three arrestees who were sent to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro.

Fragoza then fled the scene in his Honda CR-V but left behind the vehicle’s front bumper with license plate. Deputies were able to track a fluid trail left by the vehicle and located Fragoza at the intersection of 12th Street and Bermuda Avenue, where he was detained without incident.

Fragoza was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run on $50,000 bail. Jail records indicate he will make his initial court appearance on the charges Tuesday at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
