A motorcyclist killed in a collision at a Lake Elsinore intersection that was precipitated when he allegedly ran a red light was identified Monday as a 38-year-old resident of the city.
Ryan Rice was fatally injured about 7 p.m. Sunday at Grand Avenue and McVicker Canyon Park Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Rice entered the intersection after the traffic light he was facing had turned red, sheriff’s Sgt. Brad Foster said. A sedan entered the intersection on a green signal, at which point the two vehicles collided, hurling the motorcyclist onto Grand Avenue.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within minutes and pronounced Rice dead at the scene. The other motorist suffered minor injuries and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment, according to Foster.
The intersection was shut down for several hours while a preliminary investigation was conducted.
