Police Monday sought the public’s help to find the hit-and-run motorist involved in the death of a pedestrian in the south Los Angeles area.

The man in is 40s was injured about 7 a.m. Sunday at Normandie Avenue and 212th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

A passerby performed CPR on the injured man until paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene, police said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

No description was available of the vehicle or motorist.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the Los Angeles City Council for information that helps authorities solve a fatal hit and run.
