A felon accused of possessing a stolen firearm was out on bail Friday.
Cesar Alejandro Ayala-Sainz, 22, of Canyon Lake, was arrested Thursday when the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant in the 22800 block of Green Pine Drive.
According to Sgt. Jeff Reese, deputies conducting the search located a stolen handgun along with ammunition.
Ayala-Sainz was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and possessing a stolen firearm. He was initially booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, but posted $10,000 bail.
According to jail records, he was tentatively scheduled to appear in court May 16 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
Ayala-Sainz’s criminal history was not immediately available.
