A 39-year-old man suspected in a string of BB gun shootings on Interstate 10 and State Route 60 in the Moreno Valley and Cabazon areas was arrested and remained jailed Saturday in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Ernesto Gonzalez of Armona was arrested at about 3:40 p.m. Friday on Interstate 5 north of the California Highway Patrol’s San Onofre weigh station, according to inmate records.

The CHP said the BB gun shootings took place earlier that day and damaged at least four vehicles, though no victims have come forward to report injuries.

Gonzalez was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Center on suspicion of various felony crimes, including multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and throwing objects at vehicles with intent to cause great bodily injury.

The CHP urged any additional victims or witnesses to contact the agency’s San Gorgonio Pass office at 951-769-2000.
