A fire burned through the roof of a commercial building housing a bar and other businesses in Downey Thursday and left a firefighter with a minor injury.

Firefighters were sent to the 8200 block of Firestone Boulevard about 6 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which was assisting the Downey Fire Department.

The fire heavily damaged the 20/20 Draft House bar, and firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to other businesses. Firefighters gained the upper hand on the flames after about 90 minutes, but some personnel remained on scene dousing hot spots.

A Downey firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the Downey Fire Department reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
