Deputies called to an assault with a deadly weapon in Compton Sunday found a man shot to death and no suspects in sight.
Deputies were called around 1:40 p.m. to the 1400 block of South Temple Avenue, north of Bennett Street, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Lizette Falcon.
“When they arrived, they discovered the victim laying [sic] on the street suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper body,” Falcon said.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, she said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Detectives learned a dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the area northbound on Temple Avenue around the time of the shooting, Falcon said. Detectives scoured the area for surveillance video and witnesses.
A motive for the shooting was unknown.
Anyone with information on this killing was asked to call the LASD’s homicide bureau at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800- 222-8477.
