A magnitude-3 earthquake struck in the Anza area Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The earthquake was reported at 4:59 a.m. and was centered 9.9 miles south-southwest of Alpine Village, according to the USGS. It was 7.4 miles deep.

The quake was originally reported with a magnitude of 3.3, but it was later downgraded by the USGS to a magnitude of 3.

The earthquake was 18.4 miles southwest of La Quinta, 19.4 miles south southwest of Palm Desert and 19.7 miles south southwest of Rancho Mirage.
