County authorities identified a man Thursday who was shot and killed in Compton.
The shooting victim was Markel Parker, 24, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Authorities say Parker died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death has been ruled a homicide.
The shooting was reported about 7:10 p.m. Friday and deputies responded to the 1300 block of East Caldwell Street where they found Parker in the parking lot of South Park suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso, said Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Parker was treated by Compton Fire Department paramedics and was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect description was provided.
