A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 in the Temescal Valley Monday injured several people and prompted a partial closure of the northbound side of the freeway.

The crash was reported about 9 a.m. in the No. 1 and 2 lanes on northbound I-15, just south of Indian Truck Trail, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said that a tractor-trailer, an SUV and a sedan impacted at the location, but the circumstances were not immediately clear.

The collision temporarily forced the closure of all northbound lanes, prompting a SigAlert at 9:10 a.m. because of the miles-long traffic jam.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the slow lane was reopened, the CHP said.

Initially, witnesses said up to five people may have been injured, but the Riverside County Fire Department could not immediately confirm the number.

As of 10:15 a.m., firefighters were still at the scene, assessing patients.

The northbound I-15 was not expected to be fully re-opened until about 12 p.m.
