A brush fire scorched 10 acres in the Hansen Dam Recreation Area Tuesday evening, but no one was injured.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called just before 6:30 p.m. on reports of a half-acre fire burning in heavy to medium brush, according to the department’s Margaret Stewart.

The fire was stoked by 10 to 15 mph winds and grew first to six acres, then to between eight and 10 acres by 7:40 p.m.

Firefighters managed to stop the fire’s progress at 10 acres by 8:57 p.m., Stewart said.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged in the fire. Firefighters were set to remain on scene overnight to mop up remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
