A fire that erupted Friday on the west side of Perris scorched just under an acre before crews stopped it.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 3:40 p.m. in the area of Sunrise Road and North A Street, just south of Metz Park, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate in open space, not threatening any homes or other structures.
A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter was summoned to make runs on the fire, and by 4:30 p.m., the forward rate of spread had been stopped, according to reports from the scene.
The blaze was fully contained a short time later.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
