A 46-year-old transient suspected of breaking into a Lake Elsinore community center and vandalizing the interior was behind bars Friday.
Andrew Jimenez was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Thursday on suspicion of burglary and vandalism. Bail information was not available.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Adrian Brazil, the alleged break-in occurred about 2:40 a.m. Thursday at the Lake Elsinore Senior Activity Center in the 400 block of East Lakeshore Drive.
Brazil alleged that Jimenez busted a second-story window to gain access to the facility, then caused unspecified damage to the space. The estimated cost of the damage was not disclosed.
The suspect allegedly fled the property just prior to patrol deputies’ arrival. However, he was spotted in the area minutes later and taken into custody without incident, according to the sergeant.
Background information on the suspect was not available.
