Two men were arrested in South Gate Friday evening after leading authorities on a brief pursuit.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies first began pursuing the white Cadillac sedan for suspicion of DUI on surface streets about 8:30 p.m.

The driver fled the scene, and subsequent reports suggested the driver may have been armed with a gun, but further details were not immediately available.

The sheriff’s department handed the pursuit off to the Los Angeles Police Department as the suspects drove at high speeds through red lights through the South Gate area. The Cadillac made its way to the area of Templeton Street and Zoe Avenue, where it came to a stop about 8:35 p.m..

A passenger ran away from the car while the driver surrendered to police. The passenger was taken into custody a short time later after attempting to flee into a nearby building.
