Police in Orange Saturday investigated two separate fatal traffic accidents.

The first occurred about 9:50 p.m. Friday when a Honda Civic containing a man and a woman was stopped at a red light at Collins Avenue preparing to turn north onto Glassell Street. An older-model Dodge Ram rear-ended the Civic, causing minor injuries to its two occupants but resulting in a fatal injury to the driver of the truck, who died at a hospital.

The driver of the truck was identified as Enrique Jimenez-Colorado, 48, of Orange, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Police said it was unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the collision.

At 10:29 p.m. Friday, a separate fatal crash occurred at Tustin Street and Taft Avenue. A Porsche entered the intersection to turn south on Tustin when a Kia Sol going north on Tustin ran a red light and the two vehicles collided, according to the Orange Police Department.

The man driving the Porsche was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man driving the Kia was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The Porsche driver was identified 59-year-old Newport Beach resident Shane Lowe, the coroner’s office said.

Police said drugs are suspected to be a factor for the driver of the Kia and the investigation is ongoing. The department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate both collisions. Anyone with information about either crash is encouraged to call the Orange Police Department at 714-744-7444.
