Costa Mesa police Thursday sought the public’s help to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for killing a 64-year-old woman crossing a street.

The woman was fatally injured about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Fairview Road just south of Baker Street, the Costa Mesa Police Department reported.

Authorities withheld her name, pending notification of her relatives.

Witnesses described the vehicle as possibly a silver Toyota sedan, which sustained “moderate” damage to the front end and windshield, police said. No description was released of the motorist.

Anyone with information on the case, including any businesses that may have security video footage, was urged to call police Traffic Investigator Luis Gomez at 714-754-5264.
