A man between 30 and 35 years old was shot and killed in Westminster Thursday, police said.

Westminster Police Department officers were called just after 3:25 p.m. to the 13900 block of Cedar Street, near Sigler Park, on reports of the shooting and found the man lying in an alley “with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his face and upper body,” according to Cmdr. Kevin MacCormick.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the man dead. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses at the scene told authorities a suspect vehicle was seen fleeing the area driving westbound on Westminster Boulevard toward Locust Street. The vehicle was only described as a purple 2010 to 2014 sedan.

No suspect description was provided.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call Detective Malcolm Pierson III at 714-548-3759 or Detective Marcela Lopez at 714-548-3773. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to OCCrimestoppers.org.
