A man who allegedly pointed a gun at construction workers and vehicles in the Fairfax/Park La Brea area was shot Friday by at least one Los Angeles police officer and taken into custody.

The shooting near the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and La Brea Avenue happened around 9:20 a.m., according to the LAPD.

Police said they responded to the area on reports of an armed man who was pointing a weapon at passing vehicles and other pedestrians.

The man fired at responding officers, who returned fire at Beverly and La Brea. The man made his way into an apartment complex in the area of Beverly and Detroit Street, where he fell to the ground, and police took him into custody, while also recovering a gun allegedly dropped by the suspect.

The suspect’s were described as non-life-threatening by the LAPD. Video footage showed police officers walking him toward an ambulance.
