More than a dozen people were injured Monday, at least two critically, in a crash involving a city of Los Angeles commuter bus and a parked big rig in the El Segundo area.
The crash occurred around 8:25 a.m. in the 5600 block of West Imperial Highway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, which was assisting El Segundo police and fire personnel. The Los Angeles Commuter Express bus wound up on its side.
According to the El Segundo Fire Department, the bus was eastbound on Imperial Highway when it clipped a truck alongside the road and overturned.
Two people in the bus and the driver of the truck were taken to a hospital in critical condition, El Segundo’s fire chief told reporters at the scene. About a dozen other people were evaluated at the scene for a range of injuries, but it was unclear how many others required hospitalization.
All eastbound lanes of Imperial Highway were closed at Douglas Street while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash, the El Segundo Police Department reported.
