Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was stabbed to death in Canoga Park.

The crime was reported at about 7 a.m. Monday near Deering Avenue and Gault Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Paul Sanchez, 39, who was homeless, died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.

According to police, Sanchez was standing with the suspect and a group of other people when he was stabbed. The suspect, described only as a male, fled and was being sought. A motive for the crime was not known, police said.
