A man died from severe injuries suffered when illegal fireworks exploded while he was handling them in Montebello, according to police and media reports.
The explosion occurred about 6:30 p.m. Monday in the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Germain Drive, police told media outlets.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
