Fire crews halted the forward progress of a slow-moving, quarter acre brush fire Wednesday morning in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Firefighters responded at 4:31 a.m. to the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway near downtown Los Angeles where they contained the fire with firefighters on the ground and by using water drops from helicopters, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Crews will remain at the scene for an unknown duration to conduct mop up operations, Stewart said.

No injuries were reported.
