A cluster of spot fires north of Interstate 10 in Calimesa Tuesday combined into a brush fire that scorched just under an acre before it was stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:50 p.m. in the area of Fremont Street and Avenue L, roughly a mile north of I-10, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews from the county and city of Calimesa were sent to the location and encountered two to three spot fires, which merged into a single blaze in medium vegetation, clear of structures.

Firefighters halted the brusher’s forward rate of spread at 5:15 p.m., after which crews tied up gaps, achieving full containment minutes later, according to reports from the scene.

The cause of the spot fires was under investigation.
