The driver of a big rig that burned for several hours after being trapped in a fire that closed a stretch of the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Santa Clarita is in the hospital Tuesday.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol officers were called at 10:48 p.m. Monday to the freeway south of Newhall Avenue where they found the big rig on fire, according to the CHP.
The driver’s condition was unknown.
The freeway reopened around 3:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
