Authorities Monday identified a pedestrian who was struck by two vehicles and died in Cathedral City.

The victim was 53-year-old Martin Marquez of Palm Springs, the coroner said. He died about 6 a.m. near the intersection of Ramon and Canyon Vista roads.

Marquez had been struck outside of a crosswalk on Ramon Road by one driver, who pulled over and called 911. Police said that during that 911 call, the driver witnessed a second vehicle strike Marquez and flee the scene.

The fleeing vehicle was described as a light gray or silver SUV.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0300 or anonymously through Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-1-STOP.
