Several temporary shelter homes for veterans were damaged by a fire Friday on the campus of the Veterans Administration property in West Los Angeles.

Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department were called at 12:12 a.m. when they found several of the homes on fire, according to broadcast reports.

Reports from the scene stated 13 homes were destroyed and nine were damaged in the fire.

Fox 11 reported firefighters ran into challenges in extinguishing the fire because of a dearth lack of fire hydrants in the area.

Robert Reynolds of the veterans advocacy organization AMVETS lamented the destruction of the tiny homes.

“They should be in buildings with sprinklers. It’s really unfortunate,” he told Fox 11.

No injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes.
