Three people were arrested on suspicion of burglary and looting in an evacuation area near the Fairview Fire, authorities announced Sunday.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department assigned to the fire responded to a report of three people casing the neighborhood in a white Chevrolet Blazer at around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, the department said.
They located the vehicle with one suspect inside and began a ground search for the additional suspects. During their search, deputies found a broken window to a residence in the 31400 block of Cora Lee Lane and conducted a security search of the home, where two additional suspects were found hiding inside.
The suspects allegedly were found in possession of stolen property and were arrested. They were identified as Deven Hooker, 31, John Blackwood, 42, and Michael Edward Serrano, 50, all residents of Hemet.
Anyone with information about the investigation was encouraged to contact Deputy Schmitt at 951-791-3400.
