Authorities Tuesday sought the public’s help to find the driver of a pickup that struck and badly injured a woman crossing a street in the Westlake area.
The 22-year-old woman was injured about 9:50 p.m. Oct. 1 at Eighth and Carondelet streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“A dark colored, possibly gray, Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Eighth Street when it struck the pedestrian, who was knocked down by the impact,” police said in a statement. “The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid and identify him or herself.”
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital for treatment of “severe injuries,” police said.
A standing reward of up to $25,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a nonfatal hit-and-run.
Police released security images of the hit-and-run vehicle, and urged anyone with information on the case to contact Detective Juan Campos at 213-833-3713 or 31480@lapd.online. Tipsters may also call 213-833-3746 or 877-LAPD-247 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
