Riverside County sheriff’s investigators Friday requested help from the public in uncovering clues as to how a 28-year-old Moreno Valley man was killed, and who might be responsible.
Juan Franco was discovered about 4 a.m. Sunday on Day Street, just south of Eucalyptus Avenue.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Craig said that a witness came across the gravely injured victim and called 911. Patrol deputies and paramedics arrived within minutes, attempting “lifesaving measures,” but to no avail, Craig said.
He said Franco died at the scene, evidently from a “traumatic injury to his head.”
“The preliminary investigation was unable to determine if he was struck by a vehicle, or if foul play was involved,” the sergeant said.
Detectives have been unable to develop any solid leads.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Moreno Valley station at 951-486-6700, or leave an anonymous tip at 1-800-782-7463.
