Two people were arrested Friday for alleged possession of methamphetamine and a firearm in Thermal.

Thermal residents Liliana Alcantar, 34, and Francisco Ibarra, 45, were booked on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell, possession of a firearm while in possession of methamphetamine, destruction of evidence, child endangerment and conspiracy, according to Sgt. Mariano Matos III from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Matos, at 6 a.m. Friday, the Coachella Community Action Team and the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team searched a residence in the 68900 block of Harrison Street in Thermal.

During the search, CCAT members allegedly found a rifle, about one pound of suspected methamphetamine and items that indicate the sale of narcotics.

Ibarra and Alcantar were both arrested on the scene and were booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, according to Matas.

Ibarra was being held on $100,000 bail. There was no other information immediately available on Alcantar.
