Some 60 Orange County firefighters put out a two-alarm blaze on the roof of a storage facility in Laguna Woods in 20 minutes Saturday.
The fire was reported at 11:40 a.m. in the 23500 block of Moulton Parkway, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
People who called 911 reported seeing black smoke coming from the roof. Solar panels and roofing material were burning on the roof and firefighters had to be careful because the panels were potentially energized, the OCFA said.
No injuries were reported and firefighters potentially saved millions of dollars in stored items, as well as the building, fire officials said. The cause of the blaze was an electrical event involving the solar panels.
