Firefighters in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles quickly put out a fire Saturday at a one-story bungalow, which was also the location where a man allegedly was holed up from law enforcement, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. Saturday to 1106 S. Berendo St., and had the fire out within eight minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The standoff began at 8:44 a.m. and the suspect was believed to be armed, Los Angeles Police Officer J. Chaves told City News Service. A police SWAT team was called to the scene.
“Police reported the subject was in custody and firefighters engaged in offensive fire attack,” the LAFD’s Nicholas Prange said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Additional information about the suspect was not available, Chaves said.
