A 3-year-old boy died Saturday after being struck by a car driven by a 61-year-old female relative.

The Riverside Police Department responded to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 4100 block of Goodman Street at around 9:40 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, the Riverside resident made a U-turn in her 2000 GMC Yukon at the end of the street and was traveling northbound on Goodman when the boy ran from his house into the roadway and was struck.

The boy was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity and the driver’s name were not immediately available. The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, the Riverside Police Department reported.
