A 22-year-old man suspected of robbing a bank in San Jacinto Tuesday was arrested.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriffs Department’s San Jacinto Station responded at 10:48 a.m. to the Bank of Hemet branch in the 400 block of East Esplanade Avenue regarding a bank robbery, Sgt. Matt Posson said.

Upon their arrival they learned the suspect entered the bank, gave the teller a note and fled the location with an undisclosed amount of cash, Posson said. During the course of their investigation deputies were able to identify a suspect and get a vehicle description.

Southwest Station deputies located the suspect’s vehicle on Benton Road and Via Cajon in the unincorporated community of Sage, stopped Temecula resident James Cook and arrested him. Evidence from the bank robbery was recovered during the investigation, Posson said.

Cook was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for robbery. Anyone with information regarding the robbery was asked to call the San Jacinto Station at 951-654-2702.
