A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly shooting at an occupied vehicle after a verbal altercation, but no injuries were reported, authorities said Friday.

Thomas Barnes IV of Hemet was arrested and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in Riverside Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an occupied vehicle and felony vandalism, officials said.

He was released on bail Thursday.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Southwest Station responded to a call at around 2:50 p.m. in the 27400 block of Stanford Drive in Temecula about a male suspect shooting at a vehicle.

Sgt. Frank Tiburzio said the shooting occurred after three female victims inside the car confronted a resident on Stanford Drive about an ongoing dispute. Barnes “walked into the middle of the street with a firearm and shot at the victim’s vehicle,” Tiburzio said. Nobody in the vehicle was injured.

Barnes was taken into custody without incident.

The victims identities were not disclosed.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Tiburzio at 951-696-3043.
