A man was killed Saturday evening in Long Beach when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver while pushing a vehicle.

The fatal crash occurred just after 5:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Market Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The man and a woman were trying to push a vehicle out of traffic lanes when he was struck by another vehicle, police said.

Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man was arrested for suspicion of DUI, police said.

Market Street was closed between Elm and Linden avenues for the police investigation.
