An Irvine man was found dead Saturday inside a residence and a live-in relative was arrested.

The death occurred on Windwood in the Woodbridge community, according to Irvine police Sgt. Karie Davies.

The victim failed to show up for work and a coworker went to the residence to check on him, Davies said.

According to the report, a 24-year-old suspect, Tyler Shipper, who answered the door, appeared disheveled and would not let him inside.

The coworker called 911, resulting in officers and Orange County Fire Authority firefighters responding, she said. Officers found the deceased man inside the home.

“It appears Tyler and the decedent are the only residents at the location,” Davies said. “Tyler did not appear to be injured and the motive remains under investigation.”

A knife suspected of having been used in the stabbing was recovered at the scene, she said.

Shipper was arrested on suspicion of homicide, Davies said. The victim’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.
