Flames heavily damaged a two-story duplex in Hancock Park Sunday evening, displacing nine residents.

The fire was reported at 10:15 p.m. at 104 S. Orange Drive, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.

It took 38 firefighters 27 minutes to put out the flames, Humphrey said. “The well-coordinated efforts of LAFD crews prevented intense flames from damaging two adjacent homes.”

One resident suffered a minor injury and declined care by paramedics, he said.

The American Red Cross was planning to help eight of the nine adults displaced by the fire to find shelter, Humphrey said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
