Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies exchanged gunfire Friday with a suspect in the Valinda area, leading to a barricade situation, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.

The shooting occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the 16900 block of Wing Lane, according to the sheriff’s department.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies responding to the area came under fire from the suspect, prompting them to return fire.

The suspect then went into a home in the area, prompting a standoff with deputies that was continuing late Friday afternoon.

ABC7 reported that deputies initially responded to the area on a report of a person firing shots at pedestrians.
