A man who got stuck in the rain-swollen water of the Los Angeles River in Boyle Heights Wednesday was hoisted to safety by firefighters.
The Los Angeles Fire Department hoisted the unidentified man into a helicopter around 5:45 p.m. He appeared to be uninjured, but was showing effects of hypothermia, according to Brian Humphrey with the LAFD.
He was treated aboard the LAFD helicopter then taken to Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center.
It was unclear how the man wound up in the river.
