A fire damaged a three-story apartment building under construction in North Hollywood Tuesday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 11400 block of West Cumpston Street about 5:45 a.m. extinguished the flames in 47 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The firefighters went into a defensive mode and prevented the flames from spreading to other structures, the LAFD reported.

Some firefighters remained on scene, working to douse hot spots. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
