California Highway Patrol officers shot a suspect during a confrontation near the Rosecrans Avenue on-ramp of the San Diego (405) Freeway in Hawthorne, triggering a eight-hour-plus shutdown of the freeway’s northbound lanes, authorities said Friday.
CHP officers responded to an area near the Rosecrans Avenue on-ramp just after 7 p.m. Thursday regarding a fire on the side of the freeway when the suspect confronted them, causing one or more officers to open fire on the suspect, according to KABC 7.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the northbound freeway in the vicinity of the shooting and reopened all lanes after 3 a.m. Friday.
The suspect was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, according to Fox 11.
