A police pursuit of an armed and dangerous suspect driving a stolen black Honda in the Pico Union neighborhood ended with at least four people in custody Thursday.
The chase began after 9 p.m. Wednesday when Los Angeles Police Department officers tried to detain the driver and several passengers who sped away from the officers, driving through downtown Los Angeles and the Westlake and the Pico Union districts at high speeds.
A man and a woman jumped out of the car at 18th and Bonnie Brae streets and another person bailed about a block away while the driver continued, driving in circles near the Santa Monica (10) Freeway but remaining on surface streets.
KNBC4 reported two passengers had been found and taken into custody.
KCAL reported police deployed several spike strips in an effort to slow down the driver who at one point continued driving on three wheels with sparks flying and smoke billowing from underneath the Honda.
The Honda eventually came to a stop at South Alvarado Street and Olympic Boulevard and police arrested the driver and a female passenger at the scene.
