A 16 year-old boy was fatally shot near the Westlake District, authorities said Wednesday.
Two men were sitting in a vehicle at around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday near Vermont Avenue and Seventh Street south of MacArthur Park when a man approached them and attempted to rob them, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told City News Service.
The driver drove away and the suspect fired a round at the vehicle, wounding the victim.
According to KABC, the driver stopped at a 7-Eleven at Olympic Boulevard and Burlington Avenue and contacted LAPD officers. The victim was pronounced dead.
Police closed Olympic and Burlington and they began a search for the shooter.
