A 38-year-old motorcyclist from Riverside was killed in a crash in Huntington Beach Thursday.

Huntington Beach Police Department officers responded to the area near Warner Avenue and Brightwater Drive at around 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports about a collision involving a blue Honda CBR motorcycle, according to public information officer Jessica Cuchilla.

Officers arrived at the scene, where they located a man in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcyclist was speeding eastbound on Warner Avenue at a high rate before losing control of the motorcycle, resulting in the fatal crash, Cuchilla said.

The Huntington Beach Police Department Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team was investigating the crash Thursday evening, Cuchilla said.

It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information regarding the crash was encouraged to call HBPD Traffic Investigator J. Rounds at 714-536-5666.
